नीयत ने पूछा सीरत से एक दिन,

"तू क्यों है मुझसे इतनी भिन्न?"

मैं तो बस सोचती हूँ अच्छा,

तू क्यों बन जाती है तस्वीरों में सच्चा?

सीरत मुस्काई, बोली धीमे स्वर में,

"तेरी उड़ान कल्पनाओं के घर में,

पर मैं तो ठहरी कर्मों की ज़मीन पर,

जहाँ हर कदम पड़ता है जमीर पर।"

नीयत बोली — "मैं चाहूँ जगत का भला,

तो क्यों बदनाम हो जाऊँ चला?"

सीरत ने उत्तर दिया सहला कर,

"चाहत से कुछ नहीं,

कदमों से पहचान बनती है जीवनभर।"

नीयत बुनती रही सपनों के रेशम,

सीरत कढ़ती रही संघर्षों के दरमियान।

नीयत लिखती रही इरादों के गीत,

सीरत सजाती रही विश्वास की प्रीत।

जब उम्र ढलने लगी, शाम उतरने लगी,

तब नीयत ने फिर पूछा, आँखों में नमी,

"क्या मेरा कोई मोल नहीं, मेरी कोई जगह नहीं?"

सीरत ने थाम कर उसका हाथ कहा —

"नीयत, तू बीज है, मैं वृक्ष हूँ,

तू बिना मैं अधूरी, मैं बिना तू सूनी।

पर याद रख — बीज को धरती चाहिए,

स्वप्न को संकल्प चाहिए,

चाहत को चरित्र चाहिए,

तभी बनती है कहानी, तभी खिलती है ज़िंदगी।"
