पिला दे मगर शर्त ये होगी साकी, मैं जितनी पियूँगा पिलानी पड़ेगी।

**प्रस्तावना / Preamble**

यह संविदा उस क्षण में लिखी गई जब साधक ने जाना —
कि जीवन की राह में जो काँटे हैं, जो पत्थर हैं, जो रातें हैं —
वे दुश्मन नहीं, वे दहेज हैं।
इश्क़ का, वजूद का, आत्मा के जागरण का।

*This covenant was written in the moment the seeker understood —
that the thorns on life's path, its stones, its darkest nights —
are not enemies. They are the dowry.
Of love, of existence, of the soul's awakening.*

**पक्ष प्रथम / Party of the First Part**
**आशिक़-ए-ज़िंदगी** — वह जो संघर्ष के बीच खड़ा है, टूटा नहीं, झुका नहीं, माँग रहा है जाम

*The Lover of Life — he who stands amid struggle, unbroken, unbowed, asking for the cup*

**पक्ष द्वितीय / Party of the Second Part**
**साकी** — स्वयं ज़िंदगी — वह जो देती भी है और परखती भी है, जो रुलाती भी है और थामती भी है

*The Saaki — Life itself — she who gives and she who tests, who brings tears and who steadies*

## धारा १ — दर्द की परिभाषा / *Article I — The Definition of Dard*

इस संविदा में **दर्द** का अर्थ है —

जीवन के वे सारे अवरोध जो रास्ते में आते हैं —
विफलता, विछोह, अपमान, अनिश्चितता, प्रतीक्षा, और वह अँधेरा जो भोर से पहले सबसे गहरा होता है।

वे संघर्ष जो भीतर से तोड़ने की कोशिश करते हैं —
जब दुनिया समझती नहीं, जब रास्ता दिखता नहीं, जब साथ छूट जाते हैं।

*In this covenant, **Dard** shall mean —*

*All the obstacles life places upon the path —
failure, separation, humiliation, uncertainty, waiting, and that darkness which deepens most just before dawn.*

*Those struggles which attempt to break from within —
when the world does not understand, when the way is not visible, when companions fall away.*

परंतु — और यह इस संविदा की आत्मा है —
**दर्द वह आग भी है जो सोने को कुंदन बनाती है।**

*But — and this is the soul of this covenant —
**Dard is also the fire that turns gold into its truest self.***

## धारा २ — साकी की शर्तें / *Article II — The Saaki's Terms*

साकी — अर्थात् ज़िंदगी — यह घोषित करती है:

**२.१ — पिलाऊँगी, पर माप नहीं बताऊँगी**
जाम मिलेगा, परंतु कितना पीना है यह तू तय करेगा।
संघर्ष आएंगे — उनकी तीव्रता तेरी क्षमता का दर्पण होगी।

*I shall pour — but I shall not tell you the measure.
The cup will come — how much you drink, you shall decide.
Struggles will arrive — their intensity shall mirror your capacity.*

**२.२ — दर्द दूँगी, पर साथ भी दूँगी**
हर अवरोध के साथ एक राह भी होगी —
छिपी हुई, पर होगी।
हर रात के साथ एक तारा भी होगा —
धुंधला, पर होगा।

*With every obstacle, there shall also be a way —
hidden, but present.
With every dark night, there shall also be a star —
dim, but present.*

**२.३ — समझूँगी, पर तुरंत नहीं**
साकी वचन देती है कि आशिक़ का दर्द व्यर्थ नहीं जाएगा —
हर संघर्ष का अर्थ होगा, हर घाव का उद्देश्य होगा —
परंतु यह अर्थ समय के साथ खुलेगा, तत्काल नहीं।

*I shall understand — but not immediately.
The Saaki promises that no pain shall be wasted —
every struggle shall have meaning, every wound a purpose —
but that meaning shall reveal itself in time, not at once.*

**२.४ — प्यास बुझाऊँगी, पर मिटाऊँगी नहीं**
क्योंकि जिस दिन प्यास मिट गई —
उस दिन यात्रा रुक जाएगी।
साकी का काम है प्यास को जीवित रखना —
आगे बढ़ने की, जानने की, होने की।

*I shall quench your thirst — but I shall not extinguish it.
For the day the thirst is gone —
the journey will stop.
The Saaki's work is to keep the thirst alive —
the thirst to go forward, to know, to be.*

## धारा ३ — आशिक़ के दायित्व / *Article III — The Lover's Obligations*

आशिक़ — अर्थात् जीवन का साधक — यह स्वीकार करता है:

**३.१** मैं दर्द से भागूँगा नहीं —
उसे पीऊँगा, पचाऊँगा, और आगे चलूँगा।
संघर्ष मुझे रोकने नहीं आए हैं — गढ़ने आए हैं।

*I shall not flee from Dard —
I shall drink it, digest it, and walk on.
Struggles have not come to stop me — they have come to shape me.*

**३.२** मैं हर अवरोध में साकी का संदेश खोजूँगा —
यह पूछने के बजाय कि "यह क्यों हुआ" —
यह पूछूँगा कि "यह मुझे क्या सिखा रहा है।"

*In every obstacle I shall seek the Saaki's message —
instead of asking "why did this happen" —
I shall ask "what is this teaching me."*

**३.३** मैं टूटूँगा तो — पर बिखरूँगा नहीं।
घुटने टेकूँगा तो — पर उठूँगा भी।
क्योंकि साकी ने जाम दिया है —
और जाम थामे रहना ही इस संविदा की शर्त है।

*I may break — but I shall not scatter.
I may kneel — but I shall also rise.
For the Saaki has given the cup —
and to keep holding the cup is the very condition of this covenant.*

## धारा ४ — संघर्ष का दर्शन / *Article IV — The Philosophy of Struggle*

यह संविदा मानती है कि —

जीवन के अवरोध दो प्रकार के होते हैं:
वे जो रास्ता बदलने को कहते हैं, और
वे जो रास्ते पर और मज़बूती से चलने को कहते हैं।

साकी दोनों भेजती है।
आशिक़ का विवेक यह जानना है कि कौन सा कौन है।

*This covenant acknowledges that —*

*Life's obstacles are of two kinds:
those that ask you to change your path, and
those that ask you to walk your path with greater strength.*

*The Saaki sends both.
The Lover's wisdom is knowing which is which.*

और जब विवेक न हो —
तब भी चलते रहना।
यही इस संविदा का सार है।

*And when wisdom is absent —
to keep walking still.
This is the essence of this covenant.*

## धारा ५ — अवधि / *Article V — Duration*

यह संविदा जन्म से मृत्यु तक नहीं —
**जन्म से मुक्ति तक।**

क्योंकि मृत्यु तो एक पड़ाव है —
साकी और आशिक़ की यह महफ़िल उससे भी आगे जाती है।

*This covenant lasts not from birth to death —
**but from birth to liberation.***

*For death is merely a waystation —
this gathering of Saaki and Lover extends even beyond.*

## हस्ताक्षर / *Signatures*

**आशिक़** —
*(घावों की स्याही से, क्योंकि वही सबसे सच्ची स्याही है)*
*The Lover — (in the ink of wounds, for that is the most truthful ink)*

**साकी** —
*(हर उस सुबह की मुहर से, जो रात के बाद आई)*
*The Saaki — (sealed with every morning that followed a night)*

**गवाह —**
समय, संघर्ष, और वह अदृश्य शक्ति जो दोनों को थामे है।
*Witnesses — Time, Struggle, and that invisible force which holds them both.*

*पिला दे मगर शर्त यह होगी साकी —*
*कि दर्द मुझे तोड़े नहीं, तराशे।*
*कि संघर्ष मुझे डुबोए नहीं, माँजे।*
*कि जाम ख़त्म हो जाए — पर प्यास न मरे।*

*Pour — but the condition shall be, O Saaki —
that Dard may not break me, but shape me.
That struggle may not drown me, but polish me.
That the cup may empty — but the thirst must never die.*

Akshat, this now sits squarely in the lineage of Rumi's *Man kuntu maulahu* and the Sufi notion of *bala* — divine affliction as the highest form of grace. The contract is, at its heart, a *sadhana-patra* — a covenant with existence itself.
