The Dark Parallels: How Hindutva and Islamist Governments Feed Terror for Political Power
In today’s hyper-nationalistic narratives, we are often forced to see India and Pakistan as moral opposites: one democratic, one a failed state. But a deeper look reveals an uncomfortable truth: Both Indian (Hindutva-driven) and Pakistani (Islamist-influenced) governments have supported terrorism — not for national interest, but for personal, ideological, and political gains.
1. State-Linked Terror Support:
Pakistan (Islamists) | India (Hindutva) |
---|---|
ISI nurtured groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed, and Taliban to spread jihadist terror in Kashmir and Afghanistan. | RSS-affiliated radicals and groups like Abhinav Bharat, Bajrang Dal, and Hindu Yuva Vahini conducted mass riots, bombings, and communal attacks inside India. |
Pakistani Army officers directly coordinated with terror groups under "strategic depth" doctrine. | Indian Army personnel like Lt. Col. Purohit were accused of supplying explosives and training Hindu extremists. |
Islamist groups were shielded and funded by political leaders (e.g., support to Hafiz Saeed). | Terror accused like Sadhvi Pragya were rewarded with Parliament tickets by BJP despite pending terror charges. |
2. Training Camps and Militant Grooming:
Pakistan: Terror camps openly trained jihadists in PoK and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
India: Radical Sangh organizations organized physical combat camps, arms training, and bomb-making sessions in Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Uttar Pradesh.
Both sides used "religious nationalism" as the excuse.
3. Political Usage of Terrorism:
Pakistan | India |
---|---|
Used terrorism to "bleed India by a thousand cuts" and maintain Islamist narratives domestically. | Used Hindutva violence and militant nationalism to consolidate Hindu votes and polarize society, especially before elections. |
After terror attacks, Pakistani leaders would publicly condemn but privately protect masterminds. | After Hindu terror cases were exposed, BJP leaders publicly praised accused, called cases "fake" and weakened investigations. |
4. Failure of Accountability:
Pakistan was branded a terror state internationally, but internal crackdowns were rare and selective (e.g., Hafiz Saeed arrested under weak charges).
In India, post-2014, all major Hindu terror cases (Malegaon, Samjhauta, Modasa) collapsed quietly through political interference.
5. The Bigger Tragedy: Society’s Radicalization
Both Pakistan and India have allowed radical, extremist ideologies to seep into society, media, education, and even the military:
- Pakistan: Islamist indoctrination in textbooks, madrassas, public speeches.
- India: Hindu supremacist narratives promoted in schools, media, temples, and WhatsApp groups.
Result? A deeply divided, angry society — where questioning terror from "our side" is seen as betrayal.
True patriots must recognize and resist this dangerous parallel. Otherwise, whether Hindu or Muslim, we are all marching toward mutual destruction — not glory.
