World religion today are divided in to two major categories - Non-abrahmic Abrahmic and Abrahmic
Non-abrahmic indian civilization today is quite distinct then the rest of world , because despite mixing with other races of people for millennia , it still carries some roots of ancient culture. It could boost of assimilating all different culture and thoughts because of its inherent tolerance, but the other major factor was it's huge population and it's territory mostly protected from all sides, hence there was no migration of people into India.
Whereas , other Abrahamic civilizations today are the result of forceful annihilation of one dominant race and civilization by other - Mesopotamia or Sumerian, Assyrian, Mithra, Zoroastrian, Babylonian, Egypcian, Greek and later Turkic, Persian and Arabic. Since ages there have been forced migration of people due to climatic changes in black sea and also due to market, trade to different regions of central asia , europe, africa and Middle East. Due to relatively small population, tribe living at one place, it was easy to dominate and annihilate them by a superior, dominant clan.
In view of above, there is still great upheaval taking place in western part of world due to its interconnectivity, whereas , Indians are divided in three major classes -
1) forward looking , progressive, mostly atheist, agnostics as always (ancient mongols and khazars)
2) back looking , Orthodox hindutva vadis, orthodox muslims etc
3) not moving, confused - neo-liberals, neo-secularist, neo-religious
The progress and evolution of Indian society largely depends upon these third major category of people, whether they are swayed by second orthodox category which is asserting itself desperately, spreading intolerance in the society.
Whereas, western part of world keep engaging themselves on the path of self destruction.
